A December night and the angel sat atop the Christmas Tree
First and ten, the score was tied as she watched along with me
Then word came down the world around and suddenly
It didn't feel like Christmas anymore

Just a poet who brought happiness and exercised our minds
And told us of a vision through rhythm and through rhyme
About working towards the future after so long in the past
And start living in the present at long last

He tried his best to teach and bring us pleasure
That peace and love are life's most sacred treasures
Imagine in your mind a brotherhood divine
John Winston you lived way before your time

There are those who love and those who hate and those who dare to dream
And those who put their faith in God as they prey from the wrong knee
And those who judge the singer without listening the song
But being different doesn't mean you're wrong

War still rages, people dying, from sea to blood stained sea
Shadowed by a remedy too strong for this disease
But I am he and he is me and we are you
And togheter we can make a dream come true
